Spices is a broad term used to describe herbal by-products that add flavour and aesthetic, aromatic and therapeutic treatments to food, drink and other items. Taken from the leaf, flower, roots, bark or nuts of a plant, spices are usually dried and ground to be mixed with other ingredients.

Spices are famous worldwide for their ability to addd flavour, aroma and colour to the food. Spices are found to add various flavours of strengths to the food. The flavours found in different varieties of spices are salty, sweet, bold and delicate. They can be used according to the variety of dish being prepared.

The role of spices and herbs goes beyond cooking.
